This three-day winter trekking course along the Herajärvi Trail offers a practical and experiential introduction to winter outdoor travel.
The course is suitable for anyone who enjoys spending time in nature during winter – including young people and active seniors. Basic fitness and basic skiing skills are sufficient.
The aim is not to survival in extreme conditions, but learning how to enjoy winter trekking safely and with proper equipment. The course also provides skills for those planning a multi-day ski tour.
The basecamp is Nevala Nature Farm.
On the first night we camp in winter tents on the farm grounds, though indoor accommodation is also available.
On the second day we head to a camp about five kilometers away, where you may sleep in a winter tent or a traditional kota. Alternatively, you may return to Nevala and sleep in the warm common lodge.
