Canoe Trip along the Turpoonjoki and Loimijoki Rivers — from Liesjärvi in Tammela, via Forssa to Jokioinen 6-7.6.2026

Join a relaxed canoe and kayak trip into the lush lake highlands of Tammela and its forested river scenery, through Liesjärvi National Park and along the Turpoonjoki river towards Saari Nature Park.

Along the way we pass idyllic heritage farms and historical settings, such as Korteniemi Heritage Farm and the Tanner's Workshop, which bring rural life and cultural history into the paddling experience.

On the upper reaches of the Turpoonjoki

Here the river narrows and the water flows quietly and soothingly over rocks in the shade of the forest. A few small rapids can either be paddled through or bypassed on land. Further downstream the scenery opens up and paddling continues through fields and past cottage shores, until the waterway broadens out towards Kuivajärvi, beside Saari Nature Park, and on to Pyhäjärvi.

Along the way there are rest stops where we eat packed lunches, enjoy nature, and take a moment to recover. At Kuivajärvi, in the landscapes immortalised by Albert Edelfelt, we can — subject to opening hours — stop at the kiosk or dine at the Lounais-Häme pirtti.

We spend the night at Venesilta camping area in tents or cabins.

The following day the journey continues across Pyhäjärvi towards the Loimijoki — the largest tributary of the Kokemäenjoki — and the historic Mill District of Forssa, where we disembark at the foot of Piipputerrace. After a lunch break, the trip continues through Forssa's national urban park all the way to Jokioinen, where the rental canoes and kayaks are collected. You can stay in Jokioinen for a while — perhaps hop on the museum railway — or head home from there.
